OK now that I got you to read this thread, as the new moderator of the Axis forum, I was trying to find a way to add some interest to the discussion group. What I thought might be beneficial to us all, and really help in our research of the weapons systems, is to focus on one particular system every week or two.
What I have in mind is, say starting on Sunday or Monday I can start with the Panzerkampfwagen I Kleintraktor. I can write up a summary of this vehicle, production date power plant crew and so forth, next day or so I can go on to Krupp-traktor, the Ausf A and so on until we get to the final variant of the pzI. Then we move on to PzII and so on until we reach the Tiger II, and maybe some of the paper panzers. After that we could move on to halftracks, artillery, prime movers and so on.
Basically we would try to cover as many systems as possible, really highlighting the main weapons and their differences. We could all post pictures of our models that correspond to the subject we are discussing, as well as photos of the real deal, as long as we give credit to the owner of the photographs. Don't want any legal trouble .
Well that is my idea, I am open to any suggestions, gripes or help.
Best Regards,
Robert

Howdy Robert,
Even though I am not a massive fan of Axis steel, I still enjoy the subject matter.
Your idea of breaking it down, and creating a flow of information such as you described is a superb one IMHO.
Best of luck with it.

Robert,
I think this is an excellent idea. Just one question. I think that when you or somebody else submits any info on a certain vehicle it would come in very handy to list the literature used. Besides the fcat that one can verify or refute facts on a more substantial basis then: "I heard/read, you heard/read," it also gives an idea of literature for reference pics or diorama ideas.
Also, apologies, but did I miss something?
I see no Axis forum. It could be though that the heat of today in combination with sports has gotten to me.
Anyyways, kudo's for an excellent idea.

Robert -
An outstanding as well as a very beneficial idea. This is something that we can all not only use, but contribute to. I definitely agree on providing the "sources". Just let us know if/how we can help. Again, great idea.

It's a Discussion Group within the Armor/AFV Forum actually.

Hi Harm,
I had planned on stating all my sources when I start the thread on the different systems, while I won't copy verbatum from the source more of a paraphrase, I will give the original author the credit. Thanks for bringing up an important issue though.
Regards,
Robert

Jim,
I suspected as much... it is a good system by the way (as long as everyone uses he label).
Robert,
having to write numerous essays and papers every semester does get to you on the reference issue. As wel as the mess on the other (M-L) board.
THanks for the clarification guys. And if you need any help. I will gladly be of service, if I can find the time (I should have a lot more from halway June onwards, when all finals are done)..

As has already been said I think this is an excellent idea. I will definitely be an avid reader of this series even if my limited knowledge on the subjects won't allow me to contribute.

This sounds like a good resource to have in our resources section. As you suggest, have an on going series of "Panzer Primers" (feel free to use the name) to educate modelers on the various characteristics of WW2 German armor.
I think an online "encyclopedia" of Sd.Kfz. ### would be a well used resource. You could include the entire line of Ausf.'s, where and when used, etc.
