I just came across the web page for AEF Designs and found a number of 1/35th scale Half-track conversions listed. I've never seen any of AEF's work. Anybody have any experience with these kits? How are they?

I have done this set, WA-10 - US M-3/T-12 75mm Anti-Tank Conversion, and it is a comprehensive set. The instructions, like most sets like this, leave something to be desired. But a nice set nonetheless.

That's a pic from the AEF Designs website. I haven't taken any pics of mine yet.

My experience with AEF (3 or 4 kits) has been 1.) Do a lot of research, you'll need it to figure out where stuff goes. 2.) Make sure you have replacements for any machine guns. 3.) These a great step off for scratchbuilding projects. I used maybe 10% of the actual parts in the TOW support M151 and the Scout M151 kits. Most of the parts were used as templates.

The picture of M1garand attached is from the product list of AEF's webpage. I've 4 set of AEF's products which were bought directly from AEF. After a long time waiting (more than half year) I got them finally. But when I got it, I altered my order of 75mm GMC to Warriors (used to be the Kendal's product) though it much pricey. My suggestion is, unless you : 1. Very experienced in resin product and scratchbuilding. 2. A lot of refernece informations to which you want to buy. 3. The one you love it too much but no other brand produce it. Don't.

I have the Israeli M3, 120mm Mortar conversion. It took awhile to arrive. I opened up the package, looked around, closed it right back up again. This will be a "project", but I'm sure determined to do it up one of these days. AEF stuff does look good in photos.

by all means use aef kits as templates to scratchbuild from... for the most part the kits are junk.cast terribly with very poor fit an the instructions are a joke ,an really only worth 1/3 of their retail cost.D

Thanks, guys, for the input. More welcomed. Suddenly I have this large lump in my throat the same as I had looking down the barrel of that AK-47 35 years ago. It's really a shame, because, if there's one neglected area screaming for attention, it's the half-track family. You'd think one of the big after-market guys would get the itch. We can only dream.

I have most of AEF's Israeli halftracks I like the stuff and they do build up nice.I usually get my stuff within two monthjosh
