I picked this kit up last night at the swap meet held after our annual competition. (1/3 price)
After searching around on this site I see a few members have bought (and built) this kit. Is there anything out of the ordinary to watch out for.
And how much of the interior detail is visible throught the hatches? I am thinking of opening the engine bay hatches to show off the engine, and was wondering about some sort of workshop dio with the turret being lifted off to show the iterior.
I see also that there a no 1/16 Russian armour figures - or is there now some good news in that direction?
Thanks
Brian

Out of the box, you can only see the center of the engine and a little of the tranny in back . However, it isn't hard to open the engine deck and even the transmission cover. It's worth it.
The front (driver's ) hatch is operational and the turret hatches can be left open, so you can see quite a bit. Also, you can remove the turret to see even more.
There are a lot of pics in the galleries of some of the guys who participated in the threads (except mine).
Great kit, and you got an outstanding deal.

There is a 1:16 Russian tanker available but I don't remember who makes it....
Should look good in combination with the T-34!

Verlinden makes a russian tanker ... he looks like .... well ... bad!
I have made 2 T34“s and its a truly splendid kit OTB but also a great base for superdatailing.
Pictures of my build are in my gallery.
There is a 2 topics in the largescale forum about the kit - they are quite large - the first one got shut down due to loadstress...
Have fun with building it.

Guys
Thanks for the responses.
Chuck - I actually went to the swap meet hoping to reduce my stash. I sold 2 kits and bought 2 this and the Revel 1/32 Fieseler Storch so came home with bigger boxes than when I left. :-) Really made SWMBO happy.
Martin even though i stated it that night it will take a while so the figure people have a few months to bring something out.
Jan I really like the pics - what you have done with the turret and engine deck removed is along the lines of what I was thinking.
If I keep coming here it will all year to build so I had better get going.
Brian

This is a great, GREAT, kit and you will have many hours of enjoyment putting it together, whether OOTB or doing some super detailing work.
The only problem I've found on the ones I've built so far is in the plastic wrap-around brake pieces in the rear. Being plastic they tend to break apart if you try to wrap them around those drums on the side of the trans. more than once or twice. (Don't remember the numbers on the parts at the moment.)
Another thing you might check into is the many photos listed on tanxheaven.com. There are a couple of the /85s shown there that have been super-detailed, esp., on the insides, and there is literally a king's ransom of ideas for a builder to add that will take the model way above what is offered in the basic kit itself on any of the four kits Trumpeter makes.
Am waiting now for some of those PE sheets fron Part I think is the company's name, before jumping on one of the /85s. Also Air Connection's, soon to be published book on the T-34 as well.
Bet you won't be able to build just one of these things.
Good luck and enjoy, Sgirty
