Hello!

I have some questions about the iraqis T-55s.

I took this picture below from Armorama's Reference Gallery and it looks like an after OIF picture. Are the nowadays Iraqi Army using them? If so, are the painting like this one? All of them wearing the Iraq flag? Any other markings?

I'm also looking for other iraqi T-55s pictures, specialy Saddam era pictures. I'd like to build mine in Iraq colors. I'm looking for good pictures that I can see the markings and some camouflage when it's the case. I have a book from Concord (3rd Brave Rifles in the Storm) that shows a tan + green T-55. Any good picture of these camoed T-55s arround?

Thanks!

Marcelo

You need Andy Elesky to come up on the net. He was training them folks over there last year. Out here.

www.tanxheaven.com has some good reference pics, although of vehicles kept in museums. But they are good for detail shots.

Hi Marcelo

You'll find some close-ups of an Iraqi T-69 II (Chinese- built variant of the T-55) with camo on Pierre Piveteau's website :

Marcelo, I was there from the invasion through June 2003. Most of the Iraqi Army armor I saw was like the below pic as well.

I have a couple friends who are over there now training the new I Iraqi Army. The pics they have sent show the vehicles in a sand and medium green camo with Iraqi flags on them. Simmilar to your pic above, but with the green camo. The new Iraqi Army troops are wearing Chocolate Chip, old ODS era 6-color, DCUs with Kevelars and PAGST vests. Still armed with AKs and Soviet style weapons as well.
