Since it seems like most of the group has an incredible amount of knowledge regarding armour and the principals involved. I thought a good 'pissing ground' (pardon my profanity) would be a DG addressing some of the tank battles of the past and the principals who were involved. Generals, and more importantly, the Commanders of these tanks and the accompanying battalions might be some rather good cannon 'fodder', (no pun intended ).
Some of these people, like Abrahms, had tanks named after them. Some established their everlasting place in history.

As a starter question, does anyone know (no insult to anyone's intelligence intended either, just something to start it off) where and when the very first official tank vs. tank battle occured?

To the best of my knowledge, the first tank vs. tank battle took place at Villers Bretonneux, by Lt. F. Mitchell with a Mrk IV against (I don't know the other commander) A7V tanks on April 24th, 1918.

Hmmmmmm.....

Tanks were called "tanks" to hide their true purpose. The misinformation campaign identified them as large water tanks or "cisterns". The German word is panzer and the French is char, neither word translates to a water holding vessel. I believe "Little Willie" of the British Army in 1915 was the first tank and that was it's nickname.

Hmmm. I guess I was looking too far back. Would you call the Boydell/Cowen AFV a 'tank'?

They were light tanks. M3 Stuarts. Delivered there by the USS Kittyhawk on May 26, 1942. They were to be attached to MAG 22.
