Well everything was fine until I dry fitted the upper and lower hull. I had to cut the upper hull and shim both sides to make it fit, pretty dissapointing.

The upper hull is only resting on the lower hull so tha is why there is still a small gap.

Has anyone else had this problem with any of the AFV club halftracks? Oh well so much for a quick build.

Robert

I wouldn't know - although I have an AFV Club 251/1 D still in the box - when I get around to it I'm sure I'll run into all kinds of problems :-)

Here is a thread I found that confirms your problem you had, however, this individual is building the 251/9 & seems to have avoided it.

hmm, I never had that problem. The only problems I had were attaching the stowage boxes. I just had to trim down the edges so there wouldnt be a gap. Overall, I think you made it look good even though there is the putty there. It looks very clean. Keep it up and keep us posted!

I had this problem on my AFV 251/9.....the gap at teh rear was three mm and nothing i could do would make the parts fit properly. Like you, i had to shim it to get a decent fit. From what i have read there seems to be quite a few ppl who have had this problem, although i had heard they had corrected it, looks like they have not seeing as how the 251/22 is one of the newer halftrack kits.

Hi Robert ...Mine doesn't seem to have this problem...It will be tight but it looks like it will fit without adding a shim...This might come back and bite me later :-) ..I know it is going to be hard to get everything lined up straight when it'll be time to glue that top on...Keep up the good work..

Actually no putty, it is styrene stock trimmed and sanded flat. Hopefully I won't need any putty but I won't know until I put some primer on it.
Richard so far everything lines up pretty good, I have dry fitted all of the interior pieces around the shims and haven't had any problems, yet.
I am glad to hear that some of you did not have this problem. I wonder if it was corrected in a later batch? Must have been if you are not having this problem

Robert
