I had an Italeri 234/1(kit # 294) that has been on my shelf for about 5-6 years or so - thanks to this group build - now I can make myself build it!

Here is a shot of the AWESOME Tiger Model Designs 234 series wheels for any 234 series model. These are the late pattern hub civilian pattern tires.



The rest is just some of the gun carriage/cradle. I am using the Royal Models update set # 343 for this kit and an Aber Flak 38 barrel - both bought from Mission Models who is having a big sale right now btw...

On these shots (still in progress) I have added some Royal parts and replaced the kit's mg34 (wrong) with a Tamiya mg42 (correct) for me about 60% of the Italeri kit went into the trash as all will replaced with Royal, Aber, TMD, or Tamiya parts.

Looks good so far. I really love armored cars.

Were there any issues with casting-block points on the wheels? The last resin wheels I dealt with (the wheels for my Sovereign 2000 2-pounder) had some real damage to the treads from the casting blocks.

I've been eyeing my 234/4 kit with a thought to getting an AFV Club PaK 40 to put on it in place of the older molds.

Hey Alex good start ...I hate to tell you this but ...I do believe that the end of the muzzle brake is going to show if you don't fill it with something...How bout some thick CA ?? You are a brave man to even try and get that barrel to fit.. :-)

I appreciate your comments! The camera I used is an older model Sony DSC-F707 with a +4 magnifying filter on it. I just turn off the flash, set in on macro, and shoot - no zoom. The lens of the camera is literally right up on the piece I am shooting. With good lighting - the pics turn out pretty good & I am a mindless amateur here. :-)

Looks like ur off to a good start Alex. Have to agree withthe Bear, that flash supressor is gonna show.
MAybe you can have another go at it, or maybe pick up the shatton one?

Alex, I agree the Tiger Model Design wheels are really nice. I plan on building the 234/4 in the near future using the Tiger wheels, however I will also use the Italeri wheels to mix and match. I don't know if paint will hide the gap in the barrel, perhaps it would be best if you try and run some solder along the joint using some paste type flux. Good luck with the build.

The Aber barrel came with 2 flash supressors - I guess they figured one would get messed up - my 1st one sure did :-) . I have since run some super glue in that seam hoping it will help. I could have just trashed the thing after the 2nd attempt, but I couldn't find a Schatton barrel for it (nobody had one in stock)

So far, my attempts at soldering have been useless - I'm afraid I need to invest in one of those extra hands things 1st - my hand shake so bad I couldn't hold the soldering iron in place long enough to heat the metal - I have been fairly succesful with just using 5 minute epoxy on everything I can & super glue on really small things.

I understand John, I try and solder as much as possible, sometimes it works out and other times, well. As far as the extra hand device, I have found that securing it down on the work area with clay or blue tac works just as well. I solder on a large piece of tempered glass and secure it with modelers clay. It frees up both hands. Keep practicing and good luck.
