I need to know what color of testor paint I need to use on my modern M1A1 and Hummer. It needs to be like a sand color but what isthe right one? Iwant it to look like the OIF color.

Thanks

Above is too dark, works well for ODS timeframe since many different sand shades were used. Exact, Out Of Botle match to modern Sand CARC is Testor's MM Sand, FS 33531. Matches perfectly to vehicles I have served on in Iraq and have in the motorpool.

Gino,

When I was in the Army back in 1993-1997, I felt that US Army/Marines Gulf Sand Armor was a perfect match for the bumper code fields on our vechicles and when we used CARC paint to paint IFOR on the sides of our vechicles before going to Bosina. The lighter Sand color was a perfect match for the Krylon Sand color paint that we sometimes used when we didnt have any CARC sand paint.

With that being said, I've seen the whole gammut of sand colored vechicles on post where I work as a Civilain, ranging from a nearly white sand color, to the US Army/Marines Gulf Sand when its fairly new FTMV 2 1/2 ton or 5 ton.

So the best way to put it is that either one is a good match, just up to your personal perference. I used the MM Sand before and thought it was too light in color. When I do my next OIF project, I'm going to use the MM GWS as my base and ligthen it up with the MM sand color during my weathering process
