This is my entry for the Remember Korea Campaign. This was a very fun build for me and presented a lot of challenges. The main challenge turning out to be the water. Tried using Woodland Scenics Realistic Water and was not at all happy with the results. After the Realistic Water dried..i added a layer of Woodland Scenics Water Effects to the top to add some texture to the water. This was a disaster. The water effects is suppose to go on white, similar to the color of white glue, and dry clear within 24hours. Well 4 days later, the stuff was still white. So..had to pick and pull the white clumps out..and repour some Realistic Water. Hopefully..this will help a bit, only other option i have is to completely tear the water out..and start fresh.

Anyway..on to the dio...To explain the dio a bit better. The scene begins when the jeep loaded with its passengers, are slowing to come around a sharp curve in the road. As they begin to make the curve, a shot fires at them from out of no where, enters through the front windscreen and hits the driver in the right shoulder area. So...the wreck would not have been a wide open impact type of thing , but more of the vehicle is already slowed to make the curve ..but because of the driver sustaining the shot, he goes off the road. The scene shows after the soldiers that were in the jeep have exited, they are in the process of trying to locate where the shot has come from.

As always..any and all comments are welcome. The water still appears a bit milky looking..but ..will that will disappear by tomorrow..(hopefully)

Mary, this dio really turned out awesome. I really like the figures and it added so much more action to it. Im glad that you could get this done for the campaign even though you needed an extension. Once again, this dio is awesome! Keep it up!

Looks good Mary i like the grass and mud pushed up by the front tire of the jeep, the water is a little cloudy but not all water is clean and clear.

I think the whole thing looks really good. Regarding the water, it's not that deep and would take a while to clear after the jeep disturbed it. This looks like a fast moving scenario, so a little gunk in the water would be in order. The mule would have high-tailed it by now anyway. :-)

very cool, only thing I need to mention is that the trigger guards for the garands look to shiny.

I think it is a very good dio! Very well built and very well painted! Congratulations!

Very well done. The groundwork is excellent regardless of the current state of the water. The jeep mowing down the vegetation looks superb. Only one little comment, something that kind of stood out is the end of the sleeves where the wrist meets the clothing, particularly on the rilfeman on the right side of the jeep and the figure with the MG, unfinished. But other than that it is a exceptional dio.

One more thing. Looks like 2 men have no helmets. I think I may see one in the jeep. Is there another helmet there?

I really like it Mary, some water will appear murky like that after it has been desturbed. But surely it will clear up. Recreating water is not easy sometimes but when you getr the hang of it its really fun to make.

Alan..you are correct..The helmets are in the jeep. Although you can't see it from those pics..there is actually one helmet in the floor in the back..and the other in the front floor.

Mary Hi. This liottle scene looks good and saying something . Despite at start i was thinkin that the back space without other figures or behicle would show empty now that i see it finished i think it looks fine. All details and ground work is nice and measured to the scene, and u can be proud of ur work .

Well done Mary, I think you have done a wonderful job on the dio. I think the water looks fine as is. I think a really element of the dio is the woodeen gate and "bridge" You have really pulled the wood tones of well

Any thoughts about putting one helmet upside down on the ground to look like it was either knocked out or dropped in all the confusion?

Also which jeep kit did you use? I tried to find the other earlier thread to see if you mentioned it or not

Alan, to answer you question, it is the 1/35th Tamiya Willys Jeep. It was given to me by Mr. Roo back when i first started to model.(thanks cliff). It was a great kit with only minor fit problems.

Mary, I think it's a very nice dio also.
The only one 'nitpick' I have is the following:
All soldiers are trying to locate the sniper. but no one is taking care of the wounded driver.
I think when shot upon at least one of his mates takes care of him dragging him directly out of the jeep or giving him some kind of cover.

At least they are near a MASH...

Ideas:
Perhaps a bit blending of the dust colour on the figures (lower parts) and the jeep, for it is a dusty road and the dust settles on you than.

I don't know if there was any cattle walking free on roads in Korea, but other wise it's perhaps nice to place a totally non-interested looking cow or so on the road. It brakes the scene a bit. For instance on the last picture in the right part of the road. Just an idea...
