I am looking for some very light weight [sorry for the spelling bad night] link chain for my 1/72nd scale Panzer IV, can anyone please help?

I don't know if there are any hobby shops in your neighborhood, but several brands are specialised in model ships accessories, and they have very thin chains. I'm sure they are on the web too, but you'll have to look with the maritime...

If you have a mall near you, go have a look for one of those "girls accessories" stores. The kind that sells ear rings and necklaces, and hair bands and such.
I found a nice selection of chains for myself at one. They (at least the one I went in) had lots if differing size chains.

Also, check out yard sales and flea markets. Old costume jewelry necklacces often go for a quarter or so. This has been my main source for scale chain for years.

For that scale I would recomment trying a jewelry store of some kind. Womens watches usually come with a small chain to help the clasp. See if you can get a section of replacement chain. Or as Kencelot mentioned one of the costume jewelry stores may have some kind of 'hanging' earing or something.

Ken is absolutely right, I tried it too, but unfortunately cannot get anything with the shape I wanted, so end up bought a 18K platinum chain for it, I figure it would run me 10 to 20 models. SO ain't that bad.

I saw that Accurate Armour sells various sizes of chain. Might get expensive though, I don't know. As for me, I have just been using this necklace I found on the side of the road one day that happened to be the perfect shape and size, so I didn't have to pay anything for it

Nic--now there is a tale well worht hearing! Squadron Mail Order also carries a nice (relatively inexpensive) line of chain.

watch out for the Accurate Armour stuff, I ordered some of each type when Squadron had it on sale and most of the sizes are much too big for 1/35th scale work, much less 1/72

Legends and Verlinden make small chain again good for 1/35, but I think it would be a bit big for 1/72

What about wrapping two strands of very fine wire together and pressing them in the jaws of a pair of flat jawed pliers..

Have you tried looking in a model railroad section and find some HO scale chain? BTW, I don't see any spelling errors in your question.
