Here is some background information on this diorama
At the end of Desert Shield, in January 1991, the focus of the 1st Cavalry division clearly began to shift toward offensive action. The division moved its 17,000 soldiers to another assembly area near northern Saudi Arabia. This repositioning put the division in a key strategic location covering the historic Wadi al Batin approach into Saudi Arabia and thereby threatening Iraq along the same avenue into western Kuwait, completing defensive preparations along the Tapline Road.
The 1st Cavalry divisional Artillery will begin a calculated war of deception along the Saudi border. The goal is to lure Saddam Hussein into believing the main ground attack of the Allies would come up the Wadi al Batin, a natural invasion route, causing him to reposition additional forces there. Multiple Launched Rocket Systems (MLRS) from all the "Dragons" of 82 Field Artillery Battalion will repeatedly lit the sky and batter targets deep in Iraq.
This M270 MLRS belongs to 3-82 Field Artillery Battalion, "Red Dragon". The poor soldier in the front has too many questions aimed for the visiting general before the big move and the upcoming Desert Storm.
1/35 Scale. Manufacturer and kit: DRAGON: US Tank Crew. SHANGHAI DRAGON: Nato Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS). PLUS MODEL: Field C-Rations Cartons. VERLINDEN: US General, US Troops 'Desert Shield', Backpacks for figures, Razor Wire.

Roy:
Great job on your modern day dio. Just love the composition, where you've placed the elements on the base. And all that camo painting! Lovely work.
Congratulations,
