Hi, Just got my Armo turned aluminum barrel in for Trumpeter's 1/16 scale T34/85 the other day. After working in the 1/72 scale for a couple of weeks I had forgotten just what a different things can be when you jump scales.

This thing looks more like the barrel from a real artillery model Luger than something for a model! All it really needs is the sight post on the end. Ha! It's almost 9 3/4 inches long and not much shy of 3/4 inch across the base where it fits into the turret. Kind of big! Nice piece though. Even had riflings cut into the inside of the muzzle. So I'll stuff it into the box for the time being and hope that Blast comes through with the PE sheets for this monster here one of these days, although at the moment I don't know when I will be able to get around to working on it. Maybe just do one section at a time and hope I get it done sometime before 2010. Ha, ha!.

Take care, Sgirty

Who did you get it from, and how much did it set you back?

Hi, Got it off of R and J Products out in Washington State and it was around $28. Not cheap, but I guess considering it's size and all.....that isn't too bad.

Take care, Sgirty

Hey Sgirty,

I haven't been around for some time...work time kinda over came build time. I'm still not out of the woods for work, but I thought I'd see what's happening with the BIG builders. It's good to see you're still at it.

I have barrels for the big T-34's from FineMolds, BrassBarrels (which is on eBay too) and Armo. All of them are high quality. The BrassBarrels have a hole all of the way through, but no rifling. The Armo is just as nice as the FineMolds plus they are cheaper and easier to find. My Armo is for the T-34/76 and was $11 from RollModels.net.

I have the PE set too. Mine came from http://www.airconnection.on.ca. If anyone hasn't seen the set, are some pictures and instructions...

As you know, those are big bucks items, but the really big bucks are the metal tracks...

They also have some spare tracks for mounting on the hull or turret...

Oooo...baby!

Sgirty...

You probably have the T-34 memorized by now, but have you seen the new T-34-85 pics over on TanxHeaven? Nice stuff...there are numerous shots showing cutouts and lots of interior shots...

Didn't Liejon Schoot do an incredible job on his T-34? Lots of hand-built metal bits. You're the one that found it, so I know you've seen it. If someone hasn't, you gotta check it out. It's at the bottom of this page...

Take care.
