Hey guys,

does anyone know of a supplier for the above product in the UK?

I have tried countless model shops.railway model shops, and had no luck what so ever.I have even tried the few gun shops that are still around in the south of England and to no avil.

So if anyone knows of a shop/website that sells this product i would be grateful for a head's up

Have you tried a hardware shop or a ironmongers? I think they sell it to blacken fireplaces etc.

Cheers

Hey Henk

Yeah i have, all the locat stores i have tried either look at me like i am asking if the moon is made of cheese or try to sell me Hammerite :-)

Do you have a particular hardware store in mind?

It must be a lot more common in North America. I've suggested it's use to blacken brass PE so that it wouldn't be so shiny when the paint wears off.

Two of the places over here that carry it are scale train shops and auto parts stores.A freind has a two step kit for doing bolts on a car he is restoring that he got it from an auto parts store.

Thanks for the responses guys. There is one of the "biggest" model railway shops not too far from where i live, and when i asked in there the manager told me he had never heard of it and when i enquired how he aged his tracks, he said he painted them......this was rail tracks we were talkign about. My last option would seem to be gunshops, i have heard they sell something similar so i'll try there.

Gun shops are another good place, but make sure if you find it there it is not the sfuff you need to bake on.

Hey Jim,

yeah i had heard that there was some you had to bake on....although i had been told you could do it with a cigerette lighter......but over a full track run that would take some time i would think, and possible ruin the tracks.
