Hi everybody, I am modelling a closed cab GMC in 1/35 scale and wish to scratch build a model 32 gun mount on it. I need the size of the access hole through the roof and details of the hatch. Real 1/1 measurements will do or 1/35 if you have them. The Tamiya M26 has the hole but no lid. I do not wish to buy this kit if I don't have to.

Thanks
Cliff

Bit of a tough question there Cliff - but I'll take a crack at it! TM 9-801 doesn't give the dimensions of the Protection Plate for the roof opening on the GMC CCKW - but estimates from photos below lead me to believe it wasn't greater than 36 inches - and does fall within the interior diameter of the M32 Machine Gun Mount. The TM also doesn't illustrate what the Protection Plate looked like, but I have these photos below of a canvas covered plate on a particular GMC CCKW. It appears that only the inside is covered in canvas. I don't have a good overhead view to provide you with. I do have a few photos of the truck equipped with the M32 Ring from casual angles - if you'd like them.

Sir, I would love any pictures of the gun mount you have as I only have distance photos out of magazines. Also a million thanks for the pictures of the access hole. I have never seen a real US one, only the square Aussie ones.
