I would love to see those pictures.

The tanks could have been left from military aid we gave Iraq during the Iran-Iraq war.

Another possibility is that we have recently given their army some surplus M60A1 or M60A3 MBT's. The allied coalition is giving them some surplus C-130's and UH-1 Huey helicopters.

It would not surprise me if we were going to provide them with some M60 series tanks. A majority of the armor left in Iraq after the initial ground offensive (OIF 1) was either broke down to begin with or battle damaged. There were very few serviceable MBT's left.
One of the problems the US determined with standing up an Iraqi army as part of the restructuring was the lack of serviceable armor.

I saw one or two pictures of a lot of M-60s lined up in Iraq, but all without identification, just only painted sand. They were single armor M-60s, not the reactive armored ones.

I don't now more about, I'm also curious, but the second choice presented by Brent is more plausible for me.

Bye,

Marcelo

Hello All,
Having helped train the New Iraqi Army, I was able to visit many of their new and old bases to include many of the tank graveyards. In all my adventures over there I didn't run into a single M60.
