The new DML 3 in 1 Tiger 1 is the talk of the town. Check out the review section and do a forum search. It is also one of the cheaper ones available.

The DML 3 in 1 (initial) Tiger is absolutely superb. I'm building it at the moment and apart from following the instructions carefully it does go together beautifully. This is my first Tiger in 20+ years as well.. These two articles are VERY helpful:

Building DML's Tiger

Painting DML's Tiger

Also worth considering as an 'alternative' is Tamiya's 1/48th Tiger. If you are a Tiger 'Newbie' as I am, then you, like me, could find this very useful as a good 'entry-level' reference: Modelling the Tiger...

Hi, I agree with Sabot. Dragon's 3-in-1 Tiger is the best at the moment. Of course I don't think you can go wrong with AFV Club's Tiger I late either. And if you want to do some up-grades yourself with some of the aftermarket items you could always go with the older kits. Just depends on how much you want ot put into it and how good you consider your skills and patience to be. Niether of the latter two for me are all that good, so I would have to go with the new Dragon kit.

Good luck and take care, Sgirty

Just before they announce the price of the Dragon 3 in 1 Tiger (as low as $23 + s&h on preorder with some places) I bought the Italeri Tiger I Early because it was only $19. I would have gladly paid the extra $4 for the 3 in 1 and waited if I had known how inexpensive it was being introduced. I just figured there was no way a kit loaded with all those goodies could compete in price as the Italeri. I don't regret buying the Italeri because it was a fun kit to build too, but the Dragon sure would have been a nice first Tiger for me and abetter deal.

BTW I went cheap because I normally do Shermans and just wanted to try a Tiger. Little did I know I could have waited and gotten the cat's meow of kits (allied or Axis) for $4 more!!

You may want to wait a bit. Dragon is coming out with a late version Tiger 1 3 in 1 kit. It'll run the same and should be out any week now. Or just do what most of us have....get both !

Ok ok I agree, dragons new Tiger and their upcoming new Tiger late are awesome kits.

But if you like interiors, you may wanna check Academy's Tigers. I have one of them and I love it. The kit comes with a full interior which is great to built. The kit itself doesn't have any fitting problems etc....seperate tracks....PE engine grills.

Ok, the Dragon Tigers are far better on the exterior details, but if you like interiors, make sure to check those academy kits! They're about the same price as the dragon kits here, maybe a bit cheaper.

You can also put an academy interior in the dragon tiger......way cheaper than a resin interior! :-)
