I was at Ft Sam Houston today and saw a line of M997 ambulance HMMWV's with a different type of camo. It was new to me at least. Instead of the traditional 3 tone nato it sported a two tone black and green, the green was not the standard nato green but more of a loam (sp?) green. I would have loved to have taken some pictures but there were some MP's next to me and I don't know how they would have responded to someone in civvies snapping pic's of a military convoy. Has anyone else seen this?
Regards,
Robert

I'm not sure what color loam green is, but it sounds like Danish Army camouflage. And Danes use Humvees (although I'm not sure about M997), so maybe this was a convoy of Danish vehicles...

Hi Pawel,
That is mighty close to the color but it was lighter than that, and it was definitely US troops and vehicles, the soldiers were US and the bumber codes identified the vehicles as US. Perhaps we are testing a close version of the Danish camo? Thanks for the pic.

Robert

So much for "standard camo" :-) According to my son the Hummv's in his unit, some 10 years ago, were a simple black over green Unit was 319th Btn. 82nd Airbourne, Ft. Bragg NC.
Seeing as the ones you saw were M997 ambulances, they may have been from an Airbourne unit ? :-) :-) :-) :-) Inside joke for paratroopers.
Clarification for Legs: New guy, first jump, question is always "If this is supposed to be so safe, why is there an ambulance at all four corners of the DZ ?"
