Hi all, just couldn't leave well enough alone. A supply barge with just supplies and no fuel just didn't seem right, so I had to go and add another section to the barge for a fuel area. Henk, I changed the spindles to a less ornate type, now it doesn't look like a pirate ship.
To answer previous questions about how I build with or without blueprints or some kind of diagram: this whole build just comes out of my head, no blueprints or anything like that, I just light up a ciggy, sip a cocktail and think about what I want to do, then just build.
I've laid out the barge, the bridge and the German bar and beer garden on the pool table and this dio should scale out to about roughly 4'x4', give or take a foot. The next step will be the basement and pier area under the bar. Then about 100 figures and lord knows how many vehicles and assorted dio stuff to tie everything in, should be finished in about 10 more years (ha ha). - Cheyenne

Oops almost forgot, thanks for those who asked about my knee, kinda feels like little gremlins are whacking it with hammers, but I can manage to sit at my desk and model. Its kinda a beautiful thing except I dare not drop anything It's a bit*h managing to pick stuff up.
I'm also driving SWMBO nuts steppin an fetchin but hey all she really has to do is make my coctails for me while I build stuff, I mean after all the only reason she gets stuff for Mothers Day is cause I made her one. [ Thats a joke, just kidding, lol and all that stuff ]. - Cheyenne

Yes, your knee is beautiful....

Ooops...wrong POV.

I love your barge. Wow! That's a great build. You know, you should have a blueprint or plans of some sort that you can share with us.

That's some awesome fooking work.

Thanks all,
Mech-Maniac, the crane is an Azimut -3ton Bilstein crane - resin and p.e. a little fiddly but nice results - the instructions suck also a real surgical build.
Harrison, yes this will be incorporated into the bridge and Ger. bldg.
Shermie, it would be even funnier if you were right - which you are , the a.a. guns are one inch too high for clearance under the bridge, good spotting that [ wiseguy l.o.l. ]. I had taken this into account during the build but didn't like the a.a. arrangement built flush on the deck, I'll just have to raise the bridge or lower the river. No biggy hopefully.
Jackhammer, hi Kevin, blew my knee out at work , got my size 12 boot caught in a step on the back of a bucket truck, I was climbing off of. Kinda like a dog running across the back yard on a leash at top speed only to get stopped short when he reaches the end of the rope, the people that were there learned some new curse words that day.
Angela thanks, my knee is beautiful if you like Frankenstiens face l.o.l. As I've stated before I pretty much build out of my head with a ciggy and a Rum & Coke or a beer during any planning stages. My wife says that should be easy for me to store blueprints up there cause there is nothing else up there. I'll write this all up one of these days when I'm 95% done with the dio should be a book the size of WAR AND PEACE.
Tordenskiold - Jan if you could p.m. Prato with that info I'm sure he would appreciate it. I p.m.'ed him yesterday about his question on the damaged drums but could'nt steer him to any Bayardi retailers. Thanks for the info.

Honestly, this project just blows my mind! I'm amazed at your skill and craftmanship, cheyenne. Every time I look at the photos, I see another detail that I hadn't seen and then it makes me appreciate what you've put into this barge that much more. Really just some outstanding work. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Whoa Mondo, lets not have any of that " out of my league " stuff I've looked at your gallery and I happen to think your a very accomplished modeler.
I've only been building stuff since Jan. 2005 I haven't built a vehicle or painted one in 30 years.
Anybody can do anything they set thier mind to, it just takes time and patience - test fit everything.
There is no such thing as poor builds everyone needs praise, encouragement and constructive comments. If our hobby is to survive we need to encourage new guys, so they will build and buy stuff, thus increase the model manufactures outputs of more and better quality kits.
Anybody can build anything, I've yet to run into any stuffed shirts here at Armorama, unlike some other eletist sites which only deal in rivit counting.
When you build something and put it on your shelf, even if your not happy with it, even if only one person sees it and says " hey thats cool did you build that " well then theres your hobby. - Cheyenne

My patience is actually shorter than you'ld think.

Maybe if I had a bigger place.

Cheyenne,

Very nice addition, the fuel hauler looks excellent. Is the fuel tank a kit or scratch-built? BTW is there a reason that the officer feels he needs to get into every picture, awful big ego for such a colorless guy

Keep us posted

Hi Jay and thanks, the fuel container is actually a battery holder for Tamiyas motorized Japanese P.T. boat in 1/72 scale.
The German officer and another one I include alot are by Coree. I use them for size reference on a build the 2 Coree officers are what I consider mid size figures - smaller than Warriors or Verlinden yet a little larger than Dragon and Kirin. I always keep them around when scratching houses and stuff as kind of a tape measure to see if what I'm building looks to scale. - Cheyenne

I have a question, how do you plan on painting it? Are you going to add a layer of putty ove rit or something? It looks really interesting!

Max, the build is in sub assemblys for painting then when put together the hull sides will be covered in plastic card with seams and rivits added then that will be painted. When put together it's 2" shy of 3'. - Cheyenne
