Hi all,
I just came across a book that might interest those building the Dragon Tiger 3 in 1 Inital.
The book is called Tigers in the Mud - The combat career of German Panzer Commander Otto Carius.
Its writen by Otto Carius who was a company commander of 2nd company 502nd Heavy Panzer Battalion. It makes interesting reading, faults with the inital Tigers, recovery tecniques (using one tiger to tow another) starting a Tiger with a falt battery in combat, so on and so on.
Otto Carius was creditted with destroying over 150 enemy tanks plus being hit by FRIENDLY fire from another Tiger in the same Battalion.
I have nothing to do with the publisher or Otto Carius I just thought I would bring this book to the attention of all the Tiger fans out there.
Ciao
Luciano

Hi, Yes, I agree, a very good book. One I would highly recommend for anybody even remotely interested in the Tiger tank and it's role in combat operations on the Eastern Front.
Take care, Sgirty

The best thing about Tigers in the Mud is that it is free of the rhetoric and self agrandasing that seems to permeate Agte's books on Wittmann and Peiper. Both are very good books, well researched and extremely well presented. But Agte does go over the top in his praise of them, a shame really as both Wittman and Peiper's achievements need no agrandasising.
Another two books i would recommend are Panzer Aces one and two......there are some amazing matter of fact stories in there, and the carrer of Nicolusi Von Leck is well worht the asking price, as is the bio of Kurt Knispel.
I have no association with the publishers of any of these books, just enjoy reading about theAces of the Panzer force.

Kurowski (who wrote Panzer Aces I/II) has written hundreds (possibly over 1000) books. He must do a book a week and they are not all WWII.
Most of his works have long detailed first hand conversations between the participants so that should give you an idea as to his accuracy.
His Wittmann bio at least is mostly fiction.
