A few weeks ago some of you guys were kind enough to help me out with details for the tracks on the M3 Lee. There was some discussion of the number of problems with Tamiya's 1/35 model of this tank, but anyway, here is my finished tanl, built completely out of the box.

It's a vehicle serving in Tunisia, so hopefully I've got it looking good and dusty!

Now I need to start working on the base

Ciao Pilgrim,
I think it looks great!! That has always been one of my favorite tanks!! You did a really good job, and Delbert is right, the decals are excellent.
Yes, the problems are really blatant with this model. Let's keep our fingers crossed, and Academy will reward us with a new release of the Lee/Grant.
Congratulations on an excellent effort.
Ciao for now

Pilgrim,
Looking real good. Think you ought to take some pastel chalk and hit in behind the bogies where the dust appears a bit light. Also add a bit more around the bolt stips on the transmission cover.
You've done a very commendable job.

Great job Pilgrim, you've really given some life into this old tank
Your dust gives a nice sense of realism, although as Joe has stated, adding some "powdered pastels behind the bogies etc. would finish your Lee off nicely.
These are cool tanks, and you've inspired me to put this on my to build list.

Looks good, drilling out the 37mm barrel would be an easy to add extra detail item.

Nice work. I like the dust on the glacis plate. You might want to hit the headlights with some silver, however.
I don't know which came first, but the M3 Lee on display at the Patton Museum at Ft. Knox has these same markings. Maybe they just used the same reference photo.

Click here and scroll the mouse to the right to see the tank as it is currently displayed. Note the counterweight on the 75 mm gun.

Great effort Pilgrim.
Apart from drilling out the 37mm and filling the weathering behind the bogies as has already been suggested, in my opinion the dust looks a bit bright and has hidden any detail and killed shadows. I would give the model a dark brown wash (10% raw umber oil paint to 90% thinners) and then drybrush with the same dust colour to bring out all the rivets etc.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

It's not clear on the pics, but I did drill out the barrel of the 37mm gun

I think people were right with their suggestions with regard to:
1) dust behind the bogies
2) silver on the headlights and
3) washing and drybrushing the dust

So I went back to the workbench and these are the results:

I agree it looks better now - thanks for the advice!

You have a nice model there. Congratulations! One thing I always find not right in many tank models - the hatches. The inside should match the color of the outside (which should also be in green and not white).
