Hi Guys, I finished this dio today. Its a CMK resin conversion of a VW beetle to the German pickup version. It's called " hiding from those damn Jabos!" It's summer of 44 somewhere in France. A small german strongpoint with and old Ft 17 turret as its main armament. The crew is frantically trying to camouflage the strongpoint with nets and folliage from the area. Allied fighter bombers (Jabos) have been roaming the area, destroying any targets of opportunity. These guys don't want to be next.

Let me know what you think

I think it is great! How did you make the tree. I love it as it looks so real. Great job.

very nice, that conversion turned out real well, the terrain work is awsome too. How did you make the camo netting?

Thanks for the kind words guys

Paul, the tree was made by stretching fiber-fil over a bare tree frame. Then painted and sprinkeled with dried spices.

Shain, the nets are just painted gauze bandages.

Don,

That's fantastic! It certainly is great to see the VW in a dio!

It's an extremely competent piece of work - excellent! My only 'complaint' refers to the sandbagged emplacement - personally, i'd rework that entirely. Rather than use sandbags i'd be more tempted to use logs and rocks with a few sandbags on the top...

What you have done, and this I one aspect I REALLY like, is the idea of different ground levels rather than the usual 'flat' groundwork... really nice indeed...Jim

That is a beautiful dio. I like the VW conversion especially that my dad has a Classic VW Beetle. I also like how you made the tree.

A few questions though:

1) Those sandbags. They don't look like sandbags at all. They look like smooth rocks. Or are they smooth rocks in the first place instead of sandbags?

2) What are the Germans covering with the camo net?

Hi Don
Great Job on the dio love the VW nice idea i agree with Jim like the different levels and the attention to detail with the kit lying around great ground work.
With regard the ground work i use some stuff for sand bags i will find the name of a product that i use for sand bags, it really works well, you can make holes ets and give the surggestion of them being tied up,little bit of white glue in the holes fine sand and you can give the idea of leaking sand battle damage.
Found the stuff..lol.lol
Craft Porcelain from Micheals it the air dry stuff no baking.
Hope to see some more dios soon.
Cheers Chris

Don, Another great dio coming from you I love almost everything about this one. You really must start to submit some of your dio's as features. I was going thru your gallery and you have done some excellent ones. Only one thing here just doesn't sit right with me and I can't put my finger on it but it is to do with the sandbags. Other than that fantastic work. Cheers Kevin

Thanks for the feedback folks. Seems that the sandbags are the weakest link. Its good to know. Its an area that I must work to improve on.

Angela. The Germans have already covered the set of sandbags on one side and are in the process of covering the other side.
