What do you guys paint the underneath of trucks? I find that they are almost always dark but when I look at trucks on the street they almost always have a dried dirt colour (tan) what do you guys think.

I've started putting my models on a wooden base, and try to build a bit road or ground cover to set it on. I try to use Woodsenics(sp?) products to get a realistic looking ground cover. When I've figured that out, I try to paint the bottom of the truck a similar color...ie, if its a desert scene, the bottom will look sandy, rather than a dark muddy color, which I would use if I were doing something in the ETO.

I always undercoat with matt black and then the truck color. This tends to darken the color slightly. Then if you want heavily weather it with mud etc. OR paint it the color of your road surface i.e. the color of your base.
