I just picked up my DML Init. Tiger 1, 3 in 1 kit. Man this is a cool kit, and it's going to go right to the top of the "to do" list. I can't get over how much extra stuff is packed in the box. What a deal!!!

I'm jealous. The local Hobby Lobby had a whole basket full of these new 3 in 1 kits waiting to be shelved. The problem is I just don't do Geman armor unless it's an artillery piece of some sort. I assume these are like those MPC planes you could build one of three ways?
Man, just think if they ever do come out with a Centurion, and it had different engine decks, turret tops, main guns-all in one box.

i got mine a few weeks back, have one waiting to be weathered and teh second one is wating on an engine. Not sure what i will do with the third one, maybe keep it just to drool over........watch out for the mistake in the instructions when it comes to fitting the armour plate over where the clutch/gearbox would go. You need toleave it lose until you are ready to fit the upper deck and front glacis plate. DO NOT do it as the instructiosn show otherwise you will be well annoyed.

And the three in one Centurion would be most excellent....but i cannot see it happening

I know the Italeri Early Tiger doesn't compare but since I already have an Early, I would wait until the 3 in 1 Late. That is, if I decide to build one at all. Too many Shermies to build

I made this mistake and damn was I hacked off. Although I figured that it was just my incompetence that was responsible for the hell of a time that I had trying to get the deck/glacis piece fitted. I didn't know that they'd messed up the instructions. It's all so clear now!

I filed off sizeable portions of the glacis and filled the gaps later. If only I'd known, I could have avoided all the hassle and cursing!

So, to anyone who hasn't built their Tiger Initial, I say "Listen to Hawkeye - he couldn't be more right about this!!!"

Cheers.

Yeah and don't forget, IF you built another Tiger, you MUST built 10 new Shermans! :-)

Hmm I think I'm gonna wait for the Late 3-in-1 and then I'll built an Academy inteiror in the dragon kit :-) Cheaper then resin, still it looks great

Hawkeye,
Thanks for the tip. Are you referring to part G19/P8 in step 7?

i got mine a while back too.... i got all done with it (as I converted it to africa using some of the old tamiya parts)...but then i got mad because I found out the Kirin made a conversion set that provided everything for it, including a turret, the turret interior, the fiefel system, the works really.... Oh well I guess.... I never did get that set though. I would really like to see what it looks like, (hint hint, if the guy who bought it on ebay is on the site).....

I lucked out-- won one of these (as well as a Tamiya Leopard 2A6) in the raffle this past weekend at the Region 9 regional.

It's just that much sweeter when it's practically free .

Kevin, believe it or not, I have these two sitting at home as well, and tell myself the same ... why buy a thrid tiger to sit on the shelf? I was actually more tempted by the Sd.Kfz 251s, and have 5 of them.

Nope, don't have one don't want one. I know it's a great kit, and I know I'm in the minority here but the initial Tiger just doesn't appeal to me. I'm waiting on the late, That one is the stuff!!

Cheers,
Mike

I have 4 Tiger 1's here, Academy,Italeri early, and Tamiya Initial plus the Tamiya late. I'm waiting for the DML early tiger to appear then I'll have 4 DAK tigers, although I could be tempted by another late version.

Pete

Ps gonna do a Mid version sometime as well.

For those who asked the parts in question are as follows,G19 and F20. You should also beaware that makign the suspension move is not a good idea unless you glue the front suspension bar and the rear.

The reason for this is that the tracks will pull the first and last set of wheels up. If you add a link or two to the lenght of the track run, they will not sit right on the idler wheels, or the drive sproket.

Hope this explains further the problems i have found

1. I haven't built mine so it was great getting he tip on the construction problem. I have noted it on my sheet.

2. I have the late on "pre-order" This will give me all four..an initial, an early (Academy complete interior) a mid (Tamiya) plus the 3 KT's from Tamiya trying to add an early panther and PNZR IV to the collection
