The local hobby shop had this on close out for under $5 so I had to give it a shot. Turns out it looks like a fun well done kit (the tamiya kit without the trailor or gun). My search for photos and other reference materials has not turned out that much, especailly of the back of the vehicle. If anyone knows of some photos on the web or a book that may have some please let me know.

It's an oldie, but a goodie, about the only downside to the kit is that (in the one I built at least ) the quarter-glass in the roof didn't fit well, and required a bit of fiddling to get an acceptable result.
I had a hard time finding decent pics as well, about the best I was able to find were pics of a nicely finished model: http://maquettesplastiques.free.fr/images/fred/chevrolet_gun_tractor/gun_tractor.htm
Real rear-view pics appear to be scarce......

Thanks for the information. I found that while searching and thats what made me want to get some pictures of the back of it. After seeing the spare tire on the back and the rack it was on I wanted more information on how to scratch build it. I appreciate the help and the information on what to look out for while I build it. Feel free to warn me about anything else I need to look out for. If anyone comes up with anything else please let me know.

You could also try going to www.totalmodels.com Russ Sharp or sas as most modellers know him has started a reference library of pictures of all kinds.....go to the "Specialists" area and it's in there down at the bottom. Probaby look under British softskins...it's 1 of his favorite vehicles so I know there will be some pics of it.

I'm also looking for references on what the engine compartment looks like. I initially thought that the two grilled openings immediately beside the radiator grill are headlights. I might be wrong. Thanks!

I initially thought that the two grilled openings immediately beside the radiator grill are headlights.
they are air vents. On this model (#12 cab) the Ford had rectangular louvre vent covers and the Chev's had a circle which was meshed over.
this Tamiya Kit is also not very accurate especially in the front floor pan/engine bay area.
