Hi all,
I'm new to dioramas and want to build one for my entry in the TD campaign but I have some questions.
1) What colours do you use for a tarmac road surface? This will be brush painted (no airbrush yet)
2) Anyone know where I can get Heki grass in the SE of the UK?
Thanks in advance for any replies.
Ciao
Luciano

Try black or dark grey tile grout for your tarmac surface. If you still want to paint instead, a good color would be Dirty Black, a railrad color mostly. Sorry, can't help with the Heki.

Hi
Why not use Grey coloured sand (emery) paper. Use different grits according to scale. It also weathers up great.
Just a thought.

Crikey! Another great tip, what grades would you recommend for which scales?

I used sand paper for the base below. Itīs "korn 0" grade. Dont know if this is a swedish grade system. It should be good enough to eyeball it though. Sprayed black, and then faded with dark grey.
But you could paint it black and dry brush with successively lighter versions of dark grey. Mask off any white lines and paint them in afterwards.Give it all a wash with burnt umber to weather. A brush with some dusty coloured pastels also addsto the effect. Hope this helps.

Thank you all for your replies.
I will give the emery cloth method a try but will keep all your other suggestions in mind for the future.
