I have "flattened" the Links directory listing down at the bottom of the site. This procedure seemed to be bogging down the load times of the site and many times if I hit "stop" and the page loaded partially it would in the middle of doing this area of the page.
Flattening this section will have only good benefits for users. However if my Link Librarians read this it will mean we can't add top and secondary levels on the fly anymore. We haven't been adding many anyways so I don't think this will be a problem. This might also make it easier for me to translate these directory menus into other languages for the alt-lang sites.

I don't think I understand the consequences to that link chapter, but it sure makes a lot of difference in speed ! Good trick, Jim !
