For your first try I would have to say that you have done a great job. It looks very scale which tends to be a porblem for most people. What material did you use?

I agree, that looks great. Just enough texture to the pattern. Thats where I went wrong in my first attempt, put the putty on too thick, and it looked like the layer of zimmerit was about 10 cm thick.... :-) :-)

Rick: yes, U made me do it. I“m happy that you pushed me in the right direction - it wasn“t that hard anyway.

I used a standard tamiya putty, applied thinly. I let i dry for a few seconds (its fast curing) and then i shaped it with a screwdriver (keep it clean and moist).
Finaly I stroked it with a brush of humbrols liquid poly to get a more even surface.
