For heavens sake - please remove the sound when you load the page.
I almost had a heart attack first time, and so did my colleagues (Yes, I lurk at work )

Aah, you were busted at work! :-) :-) :-)
The sound only comes when you have a PM.

Homer's mail call only sounds when you enter the site and have an unanswered private message. Do what I do, I set my default e-mail notification sound to the same wav file. So whenever I get work e-mail, Homer sounds off. That way if I enter the site and have a PM, coworkers are used to the sound.
BTW, Homer's voice has been a part of the site for over 3 years.

Rob, that is funny on way too many levels. Thanks for the chuckle.

Hi Rob
You crafty devil! Neat trick! I just log-on occasionally at work - like now! - with the sound turned off.
All the best
Rowan

Many folks in the office have customized e-mail sounds. It makes it easier to tell who has to go back to their desk to check the e-mail.

Or you can do what I do. I'm not crazy about all my co-workers so I always have my headphones on. When I get a PM I'm the only one who knows it.
It did take about a year for me to recognize who it was, Homer, who was saying Mail Call!
