Can anyone tell me whether Academy M113A2 kit (#1354) has individual track links or one piece vinyl track? I know that Fist version has the indiv. tracks but don't know about this one.

I am currently builing this model. At the weathering stage and then the tracks which are individual track links. I am also building the DML Hummel with indy links and am working on the tracks at this time. This is my first attempt at indys and so far the clean up is the big issue. Ejector pin marks on evey link and there are 210 links times 2 pin marks per link = 420 pin marks. Tedious does not begin to describe it.
As for the M113A2, AFV has vinyl tracks for about $9.00. Depending on my adventure with the Hummel I may opt for the AFV tracks as the indy links for the M113 are much smaller than the hummel's. A man can only take so much.

I just saw Sabot's reply. I suddenly remembered that when I received this kit from HobbyLInc and saw that the kit did not have vinyl tracks I sent HobbyLinc an e-mail stating that their web site description of the kit indicates vinyl tracks. They wrote back and said they only publish information from the manufacturer and cannot be responsible for any differences in the kit. It may be that I got an older packaging of the kit. I bought it over a year ago.
Now I think I really do need a .

No, the M113A2 is a late 70s to present day APC. It is interesting that this kit was issued at one time with vinyl and then individual tracks. I double checked my kit and the vinly tracks are still sealed in one of the sprue bags so I know I didn't chuck a set of vinyls in there.if that the veitnam era kit then the answer is yes, it has both rubber band tracks as well as individual plastic link tracks..personally i'd go with the rubber band type.

My Academy M113A2 (#1354) comes with one-piece vinyl tracks. Do you want indy tracks or vinyl tracks?
I actually want indy tracks b/c I want to create some slack in the tracks as I try to convert the A2 to A3.

I have built many of the Academy M113 kits, and I believe all have had both indi-link and vinyl track included. I have a few sets of the indi-link tracks left over. If you still are looking for them, let me know and we will work out a trade.

Thanks y'all for the posts. Even though it's still unclear if it has both types of tracks or only vinyl tracks.
Yet, another question of mine is whether the FISTV kit (#1361) has enough parts to be built as M113A3 kit (of course without the interior and engine parts). Let me know please.

Yes, the basic M113A2 parts are all included in the M981 FIST-V kit, plus the added M981 specific parts. You will still have to make a few additions and modifications to make it an M113A3 though.
