I started on my M1025 HMMWV for the MP campaign a few days ago and it is progressing rather quickly. I am updating the Tamiya ODS-era Humvee to an OIF configuration and am using the Blast Model's Weapons set.

One question I have is whether or not the gun shield is allowed to be used with the Mk 19 attached (my M2 came with a bent barrel and a warped cooling jacket, so the already bent barrel droops).

I still need to look at the On Point publication's Order of Battle to cross-check the kit decals to see if any were sent to Iraq.

The kit is in four large sections: chassis, frame/floor, top, and engine hood, plus numerous small sections including the turret and mount and Mk19.

A lot of the chassis has not been painted and the black will either be part of the final model or serve as a base coat, I am not quite sure yet.

Most of the model has little to no paint on it, so that explains the color differences in the pictures.
I am also thinking about scratchbuilding new doors for the "half" kind.

A couple more pictures can be found in my gallery.

Yes, the shile can be used with the Mk19.

One thing, on the frame being black? On our Hummers that where painted Desert Sand, the frames where also painted sand. Now, if you where going to paint it 3 tone, you can have the fram black. Oh, the fuel cell, there are an off white, very light tan color. They are made of plastic, not metal. Other than that, looking good so far. Just wanted to let you know those things before you get futher in to it.

I'm hoping to have mine finish soon. I ended up getting all the Blast kits, I painted mine in the 3 tone. I left my hood painted all over green to show it was replaced and didnt get repainted. the door armor is going to be painted a rust color and the lower armor is painted sand. Hope to have pictures soon, or maybe I'll just post in progress pic this weekend.

Man, you're busy! I will be interested to see how yours comes out. I have this kit in my stash and I will be doing OIF stuff for a long time to come, I think. My understanding is that the Tamiya kit is very good. I do know that the radio is of the wrong era though for OIF.

So, what time period of OIF will this depict? What unit? I can't keep up with all the different Humvees out there.

HOw did that thunder run/OIF speech of yours turn out?

Bob
