Here is another entry Im working for Welcome to Nam. Let me know what you think about the ground work. Im trying to show them comming out of the tall grass and entering the edge of the jungle but Im having trouble on deciding hoe to ty the foliage together. So please let me here your suggestions and comments.

Keenan.. Looks like you have a great start so far. Groundwork is nice. What did you use for your tall grasses?

Thanks Mary, the tall grass are paint brush brissels the soft light colored ones sort like a pastry brush. I used green easter egg die to color them. Just let them soak over night. Here is a pic of what I used.

Nice layout and composition. It looks like it will turn out well.
One word for planning - watch the guy on the log - his vertical attitude (position) is going to be critical to the believability that he is walking across and not 'glued' down.

The vegetation below is just small plastic pot-plants and aquarium plants I bought from a local supermarket. I broke of individual branches/pieces and painted them. Painting was all done by airbrush. First, Tamiya earth on the stems. Then, Tamiya green lightened with light grey for the bottom sides of the leaves. I had no bright Tamiya greens, so I used Humbrol (enamel) grass green for the leaves tops. Then to vary the colour I used Humbrol insignia yellow(154) blended with the grass colour to fade, and pure 154 for the ends. This all took about 30 minutes. Overspray from the greens, tones down the brown from the stems, and this actually look natural.
I only wanted to give a hint of jungle rather than drown the vehicle, but for a fuller jungle just use more plants and vary the height.

Looks great. Its a long time since I've seen a good Nam-dio. I believe I have seen similar scene on a photo, which I actually wanted to do. But that was a long time ago...a long time.
Anway. Very nicely done, and I look forward to se the completed dio.

Nice vignette so far! Plastic aquarium plant do look really good, once painted and drybrushed. I would add some to the 'waterbank'. I'm curious how the water will end up. Keep us posted please.
