OK, after not building a Sherman for about 25 years here is the second one I've built in the last six months. I've learned a lot about the Sherman over the last few months, but there's still a lot to learn. So if any of the Shermaholics out there notice anything that I could fix please let me know. I do know the co-axel MG is hanging down as I haven't glued it or the mantlet into place yet. The list of separate parts is varied and includes;
Formations, turret, pioneer tools, air cleaners, road wheels, and most of the small details on the hull.
Dragon lower hull, and a couple of other pieces from their Firefly Ic kit.
Eduard sand skirt mounting strips
CMD hybrid hull
Tasca suspension
Ultracast rear stowage bin
Aber chains
A few small scratched pieces, ie. grab handles, periscope brush guards. (I think the front hatch ones especially are a little too high but I can live with them)
I've enjoyed building the Ic and the M4A3(76) before that, but when this one is done it's back to the dark side , or maybe something modern.

But I agree about the periscope guards. After all the time and money you've put into this model, it seems a shame to say "good enough" on those guards. You might want to spend a little more time on them and make this baby perfect!

SAAAAAWEEEEET.. hey Mike, Great stuff mate..really You have put alot of time and effort into this and it shows. If I may just say, you might want to add the extensions to the rear stowage bin.The bolt strip that goes around the box extends to the armoured radio box and is bolted down with two bolts on either side. If you need a pic of this just holler and I will email you one. Keep up the great work I am looking forward to seeing this one finnished.

Bob, the more I look at them I think you're right. One of the reasons I was going to leave them as is, is because this will be a part of a club display at the Nationals in July. I'm also working on a couple of other projects and getting a little pressed for time. I think I'll leave them the way they are for now and after the Nats are over re-do them.


Brian, funny you should mention that, as I was just looking at some pics of your Ic hybrid and noticed this also. I think I will add that to the "to do list" for after the Nationals as well.

Hi Mike ..Good stuff sir! I have to agree with Bob about the periscope covers and is it just me or are the P/E for the lights both in front and back just a bit too high?It could just be the angle of the pictures.Other than that ..Looking good for paint !

Hi Rick, yes you are partially right, the front ones are due to the angle of the pics, but the rear ones are a little high. The rear pieces are from an ancient Verlinden P/E set I've had laying around forever. They still look better than the kit ones though. This is something else I can add to the "after Nats to do list" . Hey it gives me an excuse to pick up one of the Aber Sherman sets . Thanks for the comments.

Ahhh ...There's always a good reason to pick up a good Aber set...but if you cut them down a bit they will look alright..I did that on my M4A3 and it worked out fine. But I still bought the Aber set... :-)

OK it's been 24 hours and there are no new pics of your Sherman with paint.

OK, OK, I did do a little with it today, namely the turret. I'm messing around with paint, trying to get a decent match for the British green. The lower hull is a Vallejo color straight from the bottle. The turret I did today, mixing up some Tamiya paints (which I prefer). Of course once it's weathered it probably won't matter that much . I just took the pics real quick, no tripod or background, but you can see the color.

Nice Firefly Mike. I think the color is great too. Maybe it's the angle of the shot but it looks like your main gun barrel is quite straight in the first picture.

I like that color. looks good.
