Eddie looks good so far, the preshading really brings a single color paint scheme to life. Is the pak 40 gun all the way back along the cradle, full recoil position? Nice subject by the way.

Robert

Thanks and yes, the PAK is in full recoil position...is this wrong? To be honest, I didn't even notice that until you pointed it out :-). I hope it doesn't pose that much of a problem to accuracy.
Thanks again for the comments,
Eddie

Hi Eddie, yeah I think it is wrong, the gun wouldn't be in the recoil position unless it was damaged (there's an idea, just tell people it was damaged in transit) or if it was firing. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, hope it is not too late to fix it.

Robert

Don't be sorry Robert, I'm glad you told me...you saved me from looking like an idiot :-)
I'll see what I can do about and if it involves too much it is becoming a broken PAK 40...they're towing it to the shop
Thanks again, I appreciate it
Eddie

Nice job there mate.
What kit and scale is it? Did you have any problems with fit etc? What paint did you use? Did you use primer?
Thanks for sharing
Cheers
Cliff
PS> I have a fair idea which kit it is but others may not.

Looking good man! I like the Blitz alot, and it can make for a very interesting subject. I think mine is my best effort to date out of the 1/35 ehicles I've built. Hope fully, the pics can give you a little inspiration to finsh yours! We should compare notes when you finish.

Thanks Cliff...glad you like it, to answer some of your questions:
1/35
Italeri kit
Some minor fit issues inside the cab
I used Vallejo primer
I basecoated in Model Master Swarzgraü enamel and shaded with Vallejo German grey
Thanks again for your interest mate

Thanks resistor, your Blitz is very nice as well! In fact, it's outstanding!
What kit did you use? And paints?
Yea sure, I'd love to compare notes once I'm finished!

I used the italeri kit. I can see some differences between the two, like he front wheels for example; or are those aftermarket?
I painted mine with model master desert yellow. It wasnt am "official" color, but it wokred. I didnt really prep the surface teh way I should have and had some issues with teh paint not sticking in areas.
Yours makes me want to try another in a grey scheme like yours. I was thinking maybe do a radio truck in full operation with a genrator and all.
Back to your pain scheme.....you painted in grey first, then shaded with a darker grey? I like the effect...very subtle.

Nice job so far Eddie. The panel shading really adds to the effect. I would even suggest shadeing it again. After my usual round of washes, drybrushing, weathering and filters, a mild shading is almost invisible.
I built the maultier version of this kit, about 4 years agao and really enjoyed it. I have this wheeled version on the "to do" shelf as well. This makes me feel I want to give it a go now.
Whos Pak 40 have you used? Any idea of what you will load this up with?

Glad you like it...here is what I did.
First I sprayed down some primer.
Next I loaded up some black in my airbrush and sprayed it around all the edges.
Then I lightly sprayed my dunklegraü over the entire model.
I then loaded up a lightened shade of dunklegraü and sprayed it very lightly in the center of all the panals.
Hope that helps

First of all thanks for the kind words and I'm glad my model served as an inspiration for you. Now about that cargo...I have a very light load assembled so far and to be honest I am stuck as far as what else to add. I currently have some jerry cans, 50 gal drums, spare tire, and a few boxes...thats it. I don't have much else around kit wise but do you have any ideas on what else I could throw in there?
Thanks again,
Eddie

Oh I forgot to answer a few more of your questions...sorry
Resistor, those wheels came with my kit and were not aftermarket...I was wondering the same thing about yours :-)
Frank: the PAK is the old Tamiya one
Thanks again guys,
Eddie

Mine are box stock too. Funny. I think yours are the more "historically correct" versions. I believe some aftermarket company sells some for some ungodly amount. Go figure.
I say find some ammo crates and some empty shell casings to toss in the back.

Hi Eddie , great start to a great subject(s). The wheels on blitz were changed quite early in the war (1940 I think) they were upgraded to an 8 bolt pattern, (which I think is on resistor's version). I hear you about the fit problems in the cab, don't you love that dash board. 1 thing I found really helps with the windshield is to mark the outter edge with a felt marker, this represents the rubber seal on the glass, makes it look more realistic,Have a look in my gallery for an example .
Looking forward to more pics

Hey Bruce, the Blitz you did is very nice and I appreciate the tip regarding the windshield...I'm going to give it a try. Do you just color the cut edge of the windshield or do you draw a boarder around the surface too? Maybe this crude drawing will aid me in asking this question:
Thanks again for the tip,
Eddie

Eddie, I dd the same thing on mine, but not with black, I found it a bit harsh, try very dark grey and run it on to the surface.
Vinnie's
The mistake I made was to put the triangle on the roof up, even though it's not towing anything. I'll have to give it something to pull...

I think the barrel and jerry can option has been done to death at this stage.
Maybe some of Tamiya´s or Italeri´s Motorbikes or bicycles. Italeri also have a useful little set of workshop accessories that has lots of the usual storage items. Tamiya field kitchen without the wheels is another option. Also you could make box size blocks of polystyrene and cover with a tarp from tissue. This looks cool, realistic and nobody knows what your carrying. A motorcycle laid against this, looks cool.
I had planned to use both sets of Dragon paratroopers as usually seen on the King Tiger, or even Tristars 2 sets of Panzer grenadiers as a load on mines. Some stowage strategically built, would be perfect for the sitting soldiers.

I just colour the cut edge, the colour actually shows up nicely through the "glass"

Eddie...I added a jumble of stuff to the bed of mine. Some overdone barrels and jerry cans, some crates and boxes from a verlinden set, and a few 20mm ammo cans form a PE set. I also used the original platic rolled tarp from the kit. I was going add some food stuffs but ran out of steam. HTH!
