That doesn't really sound realistic, IMHO. The first thing I thought was 'Why has he waited for the car to become snowed in before abandoning it?' It would not happen suddenly. Maybe he could be trying to dig it out of the snow, that would be something a little different for your dio.

I'd say that depends on how big you want to make it. Try and think of a story behind the dio as well. How did the kubel get there? If people stopped for the night and slept, there might be the remains of a fire, some jerry cans etc. They would have woken in the morning to find their car snowed in. If the car was ambushed, their would be signs of battle and KIA soldiers frozen in the ground. Also, why is the soldier alone? Has he lost his unit? Is he running away, in which case he would have little gear. In either case, he would be looking around for people. Maybe a patrol could have stubled across the kubel in whatever situation. Try and come up with a story behind the dio and what to put in it begins to take care of itself.

I think that your original idea could work if for example you made it look like he had engine trouble. You could show the cubel snowed in with the engine compartment exposed as if it was worked on but couldn't be fixed. Or you could show it with a borken axle or something to that nature.

IMO, another way the original dio idea of yours could work — and I like the idea of engine trouble/being mired in the deep rut/ deep snow as well — is to have the fig or two figs not be Wehrmacht. He or they could be US GI's. Meaning the driver had to abandon it since the Americans were right behind.
