well here we are again. Part 3 of the Australian Chevrolet Indian Pattern Ambulance.

Part one can be found here http://armorama.com/forums/52683&page=1

Part two can be found here http://armorama.com/forums/52976&page=1

Now this is where I finish off the body and add cloth to look like canvas on the rear body.

But first from where we left off from part two.

All comments are welcome.

the cab roof just placed on to judge fit.

my home made resin wheels which I will use. The tread is directional pattern.

the underneath showing the scratch built fuel/water can holders and rear mud flaps. These were made from brass strip and brass sheet.

the fuel/water containers were scratchbuilt as well.

the cab interior was painted and finished. This shows the cab roof fitted and glued in place.

the left hand (passenger/driver door. The right hand (drivers) side was a closed panel as the spare wheel sat on the running board.

the drivers side with the spare wheel mount placed for the photo.

now the interesting bit. Covering the rear body and cab roof with cloth to replicate canvas.

first cut your cloth roughly to shape. In my case I need two pieces as the back canvas flap is going to be down. I will add this piece first.

stretch the cloth slightly and put a small drop of super glue in the corners to hold it down. Once you have it in place put drops of super glue all over and allow to soak all areas of the cloth. CAUTION- there is a lot of fumes from curing super glue so do this in a well ventilated position.

here is the back finished. Edges were trimmed with a very sharp knife. Here the top has been done in the same way. Starting from the front along the top to the rear and then the sides.

To finish it off brass strip was used around the edges of the canvas.

Lots more pics here - http://photos.kitmaker.net/showgallery.php/cat/14677

cheers
Cliff

Cliff, nice to see the pictures to go along with the discussion on the chatroom last night.
This is the "nightshirt" material you were talking about?

it is an old satern dressing gown. Sorry don't know what type of material it is but it is a very tight weave. I used some in my Ford semi as a rolled up tarp and it paints up real nice.

Thanks for the comments.

'Roo:

I've got lots of Evergreen strips & things & lots of brass tubes & rods & sheets, but I never thought about brass strips to solve some of those "fuel can holder" issues & other things.

Tell me, do you just CA or do you solder ?

Thanks !!!!

This is looking very good Cliff. I like the way the way the box comes over the cab on this truck. One comment though - it looks like the driveshaft is glued on crooked to the u-joint. Other than that, I think it's great, I am amazed at how quickly you build your models.

Man this is wicked Cliff

I wish I only came in around 700 Miles in the vacinity of your Scratchbuilding skills. I would be very happy with that. Also the subject you are building this time is extremely nice. I love Ambulances and medical vehicles. Brilliant can`t wait to see this beasty painted. I love the way the canvas turned out. Another impressive vehicle is leaving the Roo Studios

Brilliant now go on and show us more
