Hey lads. This is on a similar topic to my last posting. ( which granted, it being a somewhat daunting task, zero have attempted to assist! ; )
Remember a posting somewhere on some website referring to a step by step guide to building a Sherman exhaust deflector. They built it out of a softdrink/soda can in slivers for accurate thickness and shape...
Anyone remember where abouts this was?

Hey Kevin! Thanks so much for the info. It is exactly what I was after...
And after some thought I realised that the guide I was initially thinking of was actually about building the drop down grate/screen for the m4a1 etc...
Anyways, the info will be perfect for the Tamiya deflector I have

Brad,
Are you talking about this one?
If so just use one from the Italeri M7 Priest kit. Making one of these is like making a 1/35 scale venetian blind, you'll drive yourself mad. Im sure someone can spare one for you.
Cheers,
Bryan

Hey Bryan. Thanks for the info, but as I replied it was the exhaust deflector as in Kevins' thread I was after... Is the one in your pic only common to the M4a1(76)? Only photos I've seen is on this type...
Thanks for another shot of your impressive Op Cobra Sherman too
Oh, and have never gotten my hands on the M7 Priest. Did you use the grille from that kit?

I think you're going to have to be very specific about which version of Sherman you are building. Kevin's deflector is for the M4A2, M4A3 and M4A4 while Bryan's is for the M4 and M4A1. Your original post said M4 so one would think the proper grill you are looking for is Bryan's

Hey Alan Thanks, but had a feeling that there were going to be differing versions... I know I initially said 'M4' but want it for a conversion mentioned in a previous posting of the Dragon M4A2 back to a M4A3(76)... I thought the grille as in Bryans' pic wasn't an exhaust deflector, but just a protective screen (Ref. Squadron 'Walk around M4 Sherman' p.66)
Oh, and if my conversion goes to plan, I guess I'd be one of the first to reposition the rear of the 'corrected' M4A2 hull back to its' original glory!!
