I'm working on a Revell Rebox of DML's Pz IIIJ kit. I know the rear deck layout is correct for a later version of that variant, and I have replaced the kit barrel (see my review of the JR item if you like!).

What modifications, if any, were made to the Pz IIIJ for service in North Africa?

Well Andy, there were modifications like stowage racks on the rear but I see that you were already discussing that in another Forum. I have a few good reference books on the pzkpfw. III so let me get back to you if I find anything.

My references don't suggest any specific changes made. It seems the first batch of PzIIIJs with the L/60 gun were sent to aid Rommel in the upcoming Gazala campaign. Maybe no changes were required.

Do you have Sturm and Drang or Panzer Colours????

Also Bruce Quarry does some good books with lots of reference pix.

Get these If you don't, Both are good, but Sturm and Drang are packed with pix, scale drawings and some good detail sketches. The only downside being the text is Japanese/Chinese, although you can still work out the Ausf because that stays in German.

I have the Pz Colors books, Concord's Pz III book, Squadron's Pz III in Action, Osprey Pz III, and other DAK sources, and my copy of Achtung Panzer #2 is on order. I'm looking for differences in air intakes, filters, or anything that would structurally set the desert Pz IIIJ apart from others. I hadn't found anything so far, and that's being confirmed by you guys!
