Hi all, newbie here. I'm no expert on WWII but I do have an interest in it and all other modelling subjects, as well as an appreciation of the tremendous work done here.
I'm thinking of doing a diorama with a Dragon Wagon carrying a Land Wasser Schlepper. Can anyone tell me if this ever would (or could) have happened? Any reference sources for the LWS? Thanks.

Sorry, I can't help you, I just wanted to welcome you aboard!! I'm not familiar with the "Schlepper" you speak of. I can assure you that within minutes, someone will give you an answer though. Good luck.

I dont see why it couldtn be done just as long as you realize that a Dragon Wagon is American and a wasser schlepper is German. You would have to do a captured vehicle scenario or something.

The illusive LWS. Should be interesting scene. The LWS was developed for operation sea lion, and thus not many were in use by the time the allies showed up in france. Rommel did have 1 or 2 of the beasts if I recall in Africa, so that maybe more of a possibility.
The dragon wagon should be fairly easy to come by, the LWS will not. The kit is long oop and the last one I saw on ebay went for 600 USD. I spent two years and finally found one about 6 months ago.
Good Luck!

Tapper: Yup, that's what I had in mind. I read that only seven were made but some operated in 1941, on the Eastern Front if I recall correctly. Maybe if I could find out where the Dragon Wagon served around that time...
Brian: There is a build-up of a LWS on this site by Vince Pedulla in the gallery, German section. Vince if you're here, gorgeous work!
Thanks for the warm welcome.

I dont think there would be any Dragon Wagon's in Europe or Russia at the time since the Americans were not in the war yet and I dont think any were given to the Soviets by the Americans just then or even at all. I'm sure something could be worked out for the latter part of the war if you did enough research. Hope it all works out!

BTW Bary, there are a couple of BEAUTIFUL photographs of an LWS that Tony Greenland built(the same model I said is on Ebay right now) in the back of his book "Panzer Modelling Masterclass". If you ever come across that book, have a look.

Howdy All,
I don't think I've got to say how much of a 'variant' aficionado I am to this crowd......I'm pretty sure that's a 'given' at this point
Anyway, I've had an itch for a LWS for quite some time, and can completely identify with our good Sticky's statement about spending " two years and finally found one " scenario.....
I just checked and the LWS on Ebay is already up over $100 sheckles and there's still 5 (five) days left!!.......pretty sure the final tag on the kit will be financially uncomfortable for whomever the 'winner' turns out to be. You would think someone would re-offer that particular modeling Holy Grail......
Best of luck with your build tho'.....

yeah - I just took a gander at it - whew! Too rich for my blood! I agree with you, Gordon. It would be nice to see this picked up by some other company. I am going to watch this one 'till the end to see what the damage is. :-)

It would be a great kit for Tristar or Trumpeter to build wouldn't it? Yes it is one of those Holy Grails of modelling for sure. After the Karl Morsers and the 2 Leopolds I will never say never but its longshot at best.

Yeah, way to rich for my blood - for a fair to poor quality resin kit (nightmare!)!
