Costas my friend,
I admire your courage ! I know that a man like you, and with your skills, can pull this off.
It will be an impressive project to follow. What's the estimated duration of the build ?

Hey my friend,
Looks like a good start. I always like diorama's with different levels better than total flat ones....I'll be following this built with great interest!

Howdy Costas:
Looks interesting so far. I'm sure I'll be bending my brain trying to figure out what you're doing as you progress.
I put together that Vietnam Reference CD for you from my Step-fathers tour of duty in 1965. There are over 200 pictures. Hopefully some of the scenery images will help you with your groundwork....if you don't get it done before I send the CD to you! LOL
Definitely keep us posted on your progress.
John

Maybe in future pics you can put an exacto knife or coin or another tanks as to give us some scale to the size of your project. 2.5 meters is over 8ft. 60 cms is nearly 2ft. That's huge!

Oh ma' gosh!
Aw come on now, Costas. Yoooooou been kidding us all this time. You don't really live in Greece. . . You live in TEXAS where everything is better or at least BIGGER. At least that's what those Tex-a-cans from Ta jas tell us. Whoa dude, this dio is going to be big. And I'm still in a state of "wonderment" — pls. excuse how I make up words. It sent ma' English teacher into distraction, don't you know — over your Russian dio with that great group of vehicles and figs out there in the forest. Some even on horseback. Super! Eager to see her as she becomes a diorama.

Now that is freaky man. but... It is actually because you say it has those sizes but as I have nothing to compare sizes with... I believe you but could you put up one pic with a single figure mounted somewhere so we can spend the rest of the day looking for that figure :-) :-)
Another stunning project is in the makings I feel that

Costas...
This looks like a beeeeeg diorama.... can't wait to see the next "installment"...
I don't think we are really getting a feel of the size of the piece of the base that you have already completed though... would it be possible to pose a 1/35th figure on or next to the base for the next picture so that we can see the size in relation to the scale figgie? Pretty please?
I really didn't think you could outdo yourself after the big Ruski dio... you never cease to amaze me! :-) :-) :-)

2,5 m long, 0,6 m wide, 0,6 m high, 40 figures, 2 boats, more than 6 vehicles and a few surprises. You need a bigger travel box.
Looking forward to see more progress pictures.

Well ok since i am at the office now, when i ll get back home i ll shoot the dio with some figures on to show u the dimensions.
But as i told from the start , know that this is the half ot the total base. I ll be doing it a s a linkable 2 parts dio , so that i can transfer it , to possible competitions and the likes, and also to my parents house.
That will be to free the lab when is finished , and i can start the next one that will be even bigger, maybe double size !!! LOLOLOLOLOL

Hello Costas,
so you did really start it.
As you already know i'm doing a bigger dio actually so i will watch your work with big interest.
Do you really think that one year before finish is enough?
2 technical questions already:
How did you got the height with the Styro? A few pieces glued together . I would really prefer to have one big piece of Styro as it would be a little bit stronger and easier to cut the landscape.
How do you intend to join the two dio parts?
I think i will use some sort of clip system (don't know the english word for this, it's the kind of system being used to join two parts of a kitchen table), but i will need to have at least 6 parts for the dio, so i will have a lot of level problems to resolve.
But i don't want to talk about my dio in this thread, so thanks for sharing some infos and good luck to you.
oh yes, i you say 1 year for finishing, you talk about how many hours a day ??
Cheers
Claude

Well rudi no problem man.. I ll get pictures with some 2-3 figures on to see.
Claude. i base my expectations for the time knowing that almost every night i work 3-4 hours and weekends more than 8 a day . And i know my work rates. Building the Armor will be the delaying factor as i usually tend to detail and overweather and that takes me many weeks.
Figures also have to be painted in high standards and that mean i cannot paint more than 2-3 in a week .
But if i put some pressure on the machine i can finish groundwork in 4-5 weeks time in total (cutted in smaller parts of time).
As for the clicking system since it just 2 pieces i dont have problem with that , they ll be putted side by side with continuing groundwork and hiding objects on the line.
on the landscaping. I havent ever faced problem with making under volumes with pieces of styro. I cannot get a block 60 cm high so i have to make it with pieces. But i install them with Pattex heavy mounting glue that is unbelievably strong so i never had a problem with that .
So we will be on contact to discuss problems that will occur on the maintenance .
Keep safe guys whatever questions may appear i ll be happy to answer asap
