Hi all,

I've been working on a model for a while now that has the 150mm SIG 33 gun on it and my biggest challenge is dealing with the gun as a whole.
From what I have researched, the gun had the gun trail shortened, but to what extent, like how short and what was left on, I don't know.... I don't really want to guess and I'm thinking (and hoping) that someone here may have an idea of how it is to look and what was left on if something like what I'm taking about was improvised in the field.

Here's am image of what I'm talking about ...

I hope someone here can help me with this.

Thanks,

Having a heavy infantry gun up forward is part of the Prussian battle plan for near 1000 years. Any American who studies how Gen Washington won over the Hessions knows this.

Getting the traditional heavy gun up forward on the early panzer chassis was a matter of course during the early war years for an army who hauled infantry guns around europe and America for hundreds of years prior.

How do you think they'd attach the heavy infantry gun up frount in the early 1940's? Haul it on a tank - I suppose your example makes sense.

Why do you ask details about where on was it bolted/welded? Are you asking if Russians got the kit right?

No...I'm building an Afrika Korps conversion that I have been working on for a while...The reason why I asked this is because I have the book "Rommel's Funnies" and the vehicle that I want to build is on the cover. I have most of if already built, but the gun is puzzling to me....The exact reason I'm asking this is because of the fact that somehow, the gun was put in place and shortened as a result of the Pz IIIs transmission and I need to know exactly how it is to be placed...I could invariably guess, but I would like to try to get it is realistic and as accurate as possible as the cover photo of this vehicle is the only one of it that exists...at least from what I have been able to uncover...

I think you may be a little confused, or maybe I am - but I think you are really refering to a Bison II not a Bison I which is the type you have shown a picture of. The Bison I was not used in Afrika for one thing. Also the gun mounts of the two vehicles was different owing mostly to the fact that the Bison I was on a Pz. I chassis and the Bison II was a s.I.G. 33 mounted on a Pz. II hull. The trail was shortened on the Bison II.
BISON II
