Hello everybody! Here's a tip if you own a Iwata eclipse airbrush. I'm not a fan of gravity feed air brushes. So I own a Eclipse model which has the paint pot loading from the bottom. The stock pot is a rather large one (I belive 8OZ.). The problem with this is you have to dump all the content of your Tamiya 1/3 OZ. bottle into the large stock pot, and hope you have enough paint in the bottom for your siphon hose to pick up. When you are done, you have to dump the remaining paint back into the 1/3 OZ. bottle and wash out the stock pot. This is very wasteful and you'll find most of your paint being washed down the drain.
So, what I have done is this:
1. I took an old Tamiya 1/3 OZ bottle and cleaned it up, taking off the sticker, and the plastic gasket from inside the cap.
2. I removed the siphon fitting, washer, and hose from the original pot. All peices from this unscrew apart.
3. With the old 1/3 OZ Tamiya bottle I drilled a suitabale hole to fit the siphon fitting into the Tamiya cap and then drilled a small 1/16inch hole for a breather in the cap
4. I screwed the new Siphon fitting into the Tamiya cap and cut a peice of vacuum hose to fit the length of the bottle.
5. When cutting the hose cut it at a 45 degree angle. If you don't the hose will try to stick to the bottom of the bottle. The hose I used is regular automotive hose, and will easily with stand acrylic paint. I have not tried it on enamels yet but if I have a problem I will just use the original hose. But I don't for see have a problem.
The result is I can now hook up 1/3 OZ bottles directly onto my airbrush. I find this saves a lot of paint and time. In between colors I just put an old bottle onto my airbrush filled with water, clean it out real quick, and slap in the next color. I hope this helps out anybody out there.
Thanks, Jay
