Although I have no special attachment to these "tracks", I drove Recce Jeeps and the Lynx, I sure remember them, especially when they would pull out of a "hide" and the diesel engne would belch out a great cloud of smoke..perfect for the enemy to know your location and put a round through you!, they where also really noisy too, could hear 'em for miles.
The kits are Tamiya's offerings, the original M577 and the later M113A3, which I found out is closer to a A2.
The models were built out of the box except for some screening on the engine vents, the Diehl track came from AFV Club and the Diehl sprocket and antenna base kits from Maple Leaf Models - good stuff that, a pass with the sanding stick and off you go.The track is great too, really great detail.
Paint is Poly Scale Nato Black, Nato Tri Green and German Dark Green, and Tamiya Buff, thinned out for the dust. Camo nets are cheese cloth and dried herbs, sprayed black and drybrushed.Raw umber oil paint washes.Archer and Quartermaster decals.
Some details are yet to be installed, wire cutters on the A2 and a bit more weathering, I've been experimenting with pigments for mud... also two figs for the A2, maybe a Tim Hortons box next to the crew commander...
This was a great campaign, also my first. Thanks to the organizers and participants. Maybe next time I'll get my Lynx and Cougar , I've also got that Faun somewhere...Also thanks to "Phantom Major" who sent me the book on the M151 a big help that was...thanks mate!
