Anyone heard anything on the Academy Lee / Grant? I hope they do not follow the Tamiya offering as done in the Stuart series.

This question is a bit like Christmas although it happens with more frequency :-)

To stop being flippant for moment (although the temptation is enormous) The simple word is NO, no signs of life whatsoever..

There are two stories currently circulating the 'street' :

1) That both the Lee and the Grant have been cancelled completely...

2) That both WILL be produced and are set for release for 3rd Quarter 2005 (Fall, this year)

Personally, after their debacle with the Sheridan, I am not holding out much hope that they will ever be released or indeed that they wll be worth the wait...

Academy's 1/35th releases will include this which is not being considered very interesting at all...

One of the others is a reboxed Tiger... Tells you that their 1/35th program is as vibrant as a dead goat...Jim :-)

Not very interesting? I haven't even heard about such a thing as super hellcat! But yes, not very original choice. Just take the hull from a hellcat and slap on a turret from an M36 jackson...
And more 1:35 tigers... Are they even improved or just a re-issue?

Super Hellcat, Ridiculous! I did hear they botched the Sheriden. Man, AFV club rescue me! Do the M3 Medium!

It is a most sad state of affairs. I have a Mr. T Lee in the stack with an ABM update set, and a nice set of TMD bogies, but I put it at the bottom when Mr. A let the cat out o the bag. Seems to me though it was just a red herring, as my Lee has now collected dust its been at the bottom so long!

If Academy was a girl we'd all call her a tease, and be done with her!

my 0.02 USD adjusted for inflation.

Hey John:
I know what you mean about the Tamiya Lee, ABM and aftermarket bogies.

I have these as well as the ABM Grant update and the Cal35 M31 recovery vehicle, too.

I'm THIS close from cutting styrene for my own hull -- I've got ordnance drawings as well as some from the Wydawnictwo Militaria book.

Time to take one for the team Roy. Once you scratch build one, an injection molded one will be released.

In July I will be going to the Dragon Xpo in Atlanta Ga If there is any news on the Academy Lee/Grant I will let everyone know

I like the Super Hellcat kit Only some prototypes were made If the invasion of Japan would have taken place they would have been produced

However the production versions were to have wider tracks to handle the increased weight I doubt if Academy will make wider tracks

Saying that it is nice.IMO, that an Allied prototype/what-if is being made in plastic
