Was trying to find out if anyone had any info on the use of the M8 Howitzer Motor Carriage in the Pacific? I've seen some references stating that they were used over there but no specific facts or pics. Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Bob

Kilntime,

They were used by the US Army. The Concord series of books dealing with PTO stuff has pictures of them. It would appear that many had extra machine guns (.30) mounted to them for self defense against infantry attack.

Thanks Brian,

Did you happen to know which book, or is it just a general Army PTO?

There are a few photos in the Concord book Tank Battles of the Pacific War 1941-1945 (7004) by Steve Zaloga.

Ciao Kilnttime,
I know that I have seen a photo of an M8 in the pacific. It was laying down fire and was surrounded by the cardboard tubes that the bullets come packed in. I will find it and get a copy to you.
Ciao for now
Rob
