I'm working on the Tamiya humvee and would like to produce an effect similar to this:
Any ideas on what I can use for the many wires you see?

Any type of wire you can put your hands on...seriously. Lead wire is more flexible than most and will tend to stay where you put it, and in what shape you put it, but any copper wire etc, of the required thickness will do.

Try to use tin wire.
It is quite thicker but really easy to work with and it will stay in the shape you want it.
But you should see if it isn’t too much overscale.
Good luck!

Hey Ed,
You can find wire at most electronics stores, any gage and color. Also you can tear apart some of your broken electronic things at home, maybe a portable cd player, phone or whatever. They will have small wires. Wires best to use in 1/35 scale are between .32 to .28 gage.

Here is another tip- while you smash those things you don’t need anymore, look for anything that can be useful in the future. For example, I always keep the lens I'm taking out of a cd player.

Hit Radio Shack and buy a couple rolls of solder. Get a roll of the thinnest they have. Solder is easy to work with because it stays where you put it. That is, it is malleable and will "droop and drape" easier than regular plastic coated wire and stay there...

Like Vinnie,Kahuna, and Shaun , the biggest ones you can get some lead wire or tin, they are sometimes the same for them, but them real small ones your going to haft to go with Joes, and Kahunas suggestion again by going with copper, cause lead or tin don't go that small.
You can do like that or buy everything you need at one place for about 20 bucks, and that is including all the spools of lead wire and tin wire, and a couple spools of .006 copper wire. This should last you a life time.
If you want pm me and I'll look up this place for you to where I bought mine at.

I use solder wire most of the time. For my TOW Humvee, I used the different guage solder from Radio Shack for the TOW power cables. A decent craft store will have ultra thin guage wire.

Ed, I've got some thin wire I picked up somewhere. It's fairly small. I've used it to make antennaes on my models. I'd be happy to send you some to see if you can use it for something. Just give me a holler.

If you have a good fishing tackle shop in the area, check out the fly-tieing section. A good place will have various sizes of copper and lead wire used for making fishing flys.
