seeing as the area of my dio is very large, i need a large number of soldiers to fill it

my plan is to purchase multiple kits of tamiyas west euro infantry and u.s. assault infantry and switch a few poses and weapons for variety from the tamiya u.s. weapons set (say maybe swap running with an m1 to running with a flamethrower)

i already have the weapons set and one west euro infantry kit (only 4 of the 6 were able to be used though!!)

does this sound like a good plan?

also, if anyone knows where i could get the best deal on those few plastic figure kits (ordering under $30 worth) please let me know, also if there are any extra parts that would be helpful to me that you are willing to sell at a reasonable price

Ola Stoner

In addition to that sets from tamiya you could also go for the Multipose figures of Airfix. They have just been rereleasing the old 1:32 Figure line they had in the past. I believe they have a Set of figures that would fit perfectly in the landing scene. Although they are 1:32 instead of 1:35 mix them between your 1:35 figures give them 1:35 weapons and other gear and equipment and they are ready to go. Dragon also released a couple of figures very suitable for a landing scene.

Hey stoner
What about the new(ish) Dragon set of US infantry coming ashore? I can't remember the infantry division, but they are designed for the Normandy landings on either Utah or Omaha... Think that the Italeri landing craft comes with them included... Food for thought...

29th Infantry, Omaha beach... Just remembered. Nice looking figures, prostrate, crouched, running, kneeling etc. Think they can work around beach obstacles... Check these out before those Tamiya West Europe blokes

You can use the same kit boxes also.

but 2 sets of each, Then all you do it kitbash, or modify with a small fine saw and some putty!

Dragon also released a set of four US rangers for beach scenes, might be usable as I think rangers were on Omaha as well (5th ranger battalion).

actually this is one thing i know

both the 2nd and 5th rangers were both on omaha

so your point makes good sense and i could mix these with the 29th infantry from dragon to give that cluttered feeling as many of the lcvps missed there landing spot by a ways

also, i see that one ranger comes with a bangalore, adds more realism to have the correct variety of weapons on the beach
