Gordon:
I may be able to help a little. I have an old photo of an M67 from 1st tanks that was taken in 1965 at the old tank park, Camp Pendleton, CA. It’s a personal photo of mine so no copyright worries. The photo is somewhat faded but the detail is good. The other changes made to the basic M48A3 to produce an M67 flame tank or “Zippo” were as follows:
The .50 cal MG’s removed from TC position and main gun mantlet.
Searchlight was not installed on the M67’s I saw in the states.
As with other USMC M48’s, 5 top (return) rollers.
Other details:
There were internal changes to provide room for the large tank that housed the fuel for the flame gun. No fuel cans or gear was left on the outside of the turret. Only crew was the driver and the commander/gunner.
I trust my memory is correct here. Risky after 30 plus years. The picture is quite faded so don’t pay attention to the paint color as shown on the vehicle. Marine Corps green is much darker that what the photo shows.
Good luck with the project. Always great to see another Vietnam War Marine Corps model in the works.
