I just purchased Dragon's M4A1 Sherman early version, i need some reference photos a walk around would be great but any pics would help. Also the kit comes with 2 types of tracks one looks like it has the thick rubber block treads in the center the other treads are much thinner are these metal if they are would they be correct to use on this eraly sherman. As you can see from this post i know nothing about Sherman tanks any help would be great, this will be my first Sherman.

The best reference to buy that is still readily available is the Squadron/Signal Walk Around M4 Sherman #5701. It runs about $15 and is primarily a photo book of different Sherman details.

Here is a website that will act as a gateway for you to find online Sherman references: http://web.inter.nl.net/users/spoelstra/g104/index.htm.

The two best Sherman references that money can buy are the RP Hunnicutt Sherman book ($200+) and the MMiR Modelers Guide to the M4 Sherman ($30+) which is rumored to be updated in the near future.

First off welcome to the madness of Sherman tanks :-) :-) They are habit forming As far as the kit tracks go The type that come with the kit are the T48 rubber chevron They look almost like a V That type is more correct for this version

The other type is a UK metal chevron The T62 I believe That type was used on British,Canadian, and Polish Shermans

As far as pics go have you tried typing in M4A1 Sherman in an internet search? If you are looking for some relativly inexpensive books on the Sherman I recommened two from Squadron Signal

Sherman in Action and Sherman Walkaround Hope that helps Here's a link to that kit
