Here are a few in progress shots of my Revell Panther A (1/72). I added the engine cover grills from a generic photo etched screen sheet I picked up from the LHS. They're not the correct pattern, but close enough for me! I made a mounting rack for the extra track links from styrene and scrap brass fret. I also built two brackets for the side skirts from the same materials. My intention is to display multiple skirt plates missing. Suprisingly, the kit had no tow rings so I fashioned four of them from some copper wire. I'm hoping those look better painted.
I also installed four brass rod posts for the tow cables to hang from. The kit's tow cables were fairly plain and straight so I kept the eye rings but fasioned a cable from fishing lead wire. It ends up that the wire is too narrow, but I'll probably leave them and search for a larger gauge before my next project.

It's looking very nice, I just ordered the model myself. I'm not going to build it though, but use the parts for 2 or maybe three different models.

For the towing cable you could use a few copper wires from an electrical cable and wind them together. You can vary the thickness to your liking.

Cheers,
Pascal

Looks great. I like to see it painted.
I must give it once a try, such a small model

It looks good. I built one as a Bergepanzer and I thought it was a nice little kit to build. I hope you're having as much fun with yours as I had with mine.

Thanks, everyone, for your compliments! It was a good way to spend the Fourth of July.

Pascal, I tried creating my own from twisting copper wires with a circular template, but it didn't work too well for me. I probably need to practice.

Ziga, how are the P/E tracks to work with?

Sabot, I really liked your Bergepanzer. Did you use a conversion kit or scratchbuild?

It is from a company called PIO Models. They include the Revell kit (but remove unneeded parts from the sprue) and include a PE fret and resin turret plug.

Mac, to tell you the truth, I really haven't started the construction of the tracks. Currently working on zimmerit. But I will post my finished Panther when it's done.

Hi Mac,

Your panther build is going very nicely. I commend you on the detail work! It shows that you're having fun with the subject. BTW, what will you use as bracket pins for the spare links? They would be very small in braille scale. I would be very interested on how will you go about it.

Hope to see more in-progress pics.
