Hello,

Wondering what color to use for shell casings for M60. I think maybe brass.

Thanks, PFC

Yes, brass would be the proper color.

If you are talking about 105mm main gun rounds, brass or steel would both be applicable. We starting getting steel casings on practice SABOT rounds in 1976. By 1979 we were seeing brass casings only on old lots of ammo (primarily HEP). In 1984, my last gunnery season with the M60A3 all of the ammunition (service and practice) were in steel casing, then in Europe we carried only HEAT & SABOT (at least in the 8th ID).

Recently, I discovered a new brand for metal colours : COLORIMA. It's made in Spain. The colors are really spectacular. For shell casings, both "rich gold" and "red gold" would do great. Don't forget you can always finetune metal colours by adding some other colour to it (other metals, red, yellow, browns,...).

Never thought about his wanting to know about M60 tank 105mm casing. If so, go with Jeff's advice. I was thinking M60 7.62mm machine gun.
